Electrostatic powder spraying: spray gun operation precautions and common faults

In electrostatic powder spraying, the spray gun is a commonly used equipment, so what should you pay attention to during the operation of the spray gun? What are the common questions?

In electrostatic spraying, the distance between the workpiece and the nozzle should be between 150-300mm. If the distance is too close, it is easy to short-circuit and cause breakdown points in the coating. If the distance is too far, it is difficult to apply powder.

During the entire spraying process, the spray gun and the workpiece should always be kept vertical, otherwise it will cause waste of paint or form an "orange peel" phenomenon. At the same time, it is necessary to avoid the arc-shaped movement of the spray gun and keep the movement speed uniform, which will affect the final spraying effect.

During the spray gun spraying process, the spray pattern may be uneven. There are two reasons for this: 1. The powder spray tube is worn; 2. The spray gun or powder tube is clogged. If the powder spray pipe is worn, we need to replace the powder spray pipe. If the powder pipe or spray gun is blocked, we must first disconnect the feed hose from the spray gun and purge the spray gun with an air spray gun. Then disconnect the hose from the spray gun and powder pump, and purge the hose. If the blockage is serious, the feed hose needs to be replaced. The powder pump also needs to be disassembled and cleaned, and replaced with a new spray gun assembly if necessary.

In addition to uneven patterns, we may also encounter irregular and intermittent work of the spray gun during the spraying process. There are usually two reasons for this - a faulty gun switch and poor cable contact. We can investigate and deal with them one by one.

If the spray gun sprays less powder during operation, it may be caused by a clogged nozzle, powder pipe or spray gun. We can just disassemble and clean the spray gun.

If the spray gun does not produce powder, we consider that the powder supply pump and powder tube are not flowing smoothly, and the blockage needs to be cleared. In addition, the O-ring of the powder supply pump may be damaged and the O-ring needs to be replaced. At the same time, it may also be that the switch of the spray gun is malfunctioning.
